Getting Started

As many chats as needed for you to feel happy and confident that we are the right people for you – whether it’s on Zoom, Facetime, or a coffee date in person.

This can be held at Jess' relaxing garden studio here in Whitstable, or if you’re not based in the UK we can carry out a trial at the wedding location in the days leading up to your wedding.
Wedding Day

Let’s start the day right – Jess will be a warm and welcoming presence on the morning of, there to get you ready for the big moment. If you’ve got a bridal party and you want to pamper them too, we have packages that include your bridal party in all the prep goodness.

Up to 12 Hours with Matt. Our award-winning documentary photography style captures moments as they happen, both big and small. Your day is about much more than just exchanging rings and cutting your cake, so we make sure to capture it all.

Once Jess is done making you look and feel amazing, she puts down most of her makeup kit and picks up a camera to shoot the rest of the day with Matt. But don’t worry…

The kit’s not gone for good! These touch ups are designed to be quick, so Jess won't be pulling you away from your day. It’s normally a quick touch of lippy and a re-powder before the all-important portraits and post speeches – either way, I’ve always got my little ‘go bag’ to keep you looking fresh and flawless.

FAQs
Do you shoot family group photos?
Yes! While they are slightly more traditional in nature, they’re important and do have their place (your Nan’s mantelpiece, proud as punch, for starters). But we know you don’t want to spend an hour rooted to the spot while a procession of people come and go, smiling awkwardly at the camera before rushing back to their canapés and bubbles. So, we like to keep these ‘formals’ actually quite informal, relaxed and short – and, dare we say, fun, so that even the more serious ones look natural.
How do you both approach the day?
We only roll with calm, relaxed and fun vibes. Capturing pure, honest emotion only comes when we can get past any barriers with our couples, so with your trust and a strong rapport between us you can guarantee we will document your day in the most candid, stress-free way.
Can I have more than one hair & makeup trial?
Of course you can! Hair & Makeup is a process, and sometimes you just need to try a different idea. If you would like to book in another trial, just let Jess know and we can find a time that works. Additional trials will be charged at Jess’s usual rate.
Is this really as good as it sounds?
Yes! Without blowing our own trumpets, you will be in very safe hands. We love every second of what we do, and it is such a privilege to work with couples on one of the most incredible days of their lives. If you want calming, fun and engaged suppliers around you then we are your people.

What is Ceremony’s Pièce de résistance?
Ooh, full Dragon’s Den - we love it! The synergy we bring to the table, merging two really personal aspects of your day and providing you with a seamless and top-notch service. An inside-out understanding of each other, which translates to an inside-out understanding of you both, and what you need.
We are quite camera shy and a little nervous about being photographed! Can you help put us at ease?
In one word: yes. In a few more words: absolutely, it’s what we’re here to do! For us, the biggest part of documenting your day is ensuring you are relaxed and having fun, and that you get to spend plenty of time with your guests. To achieve that you need to be comfortable and at ease around your wedding team. Cool, calm and collected is how Ceremony rolls, but we can always plan a pre wedding/engagement shoot to get you used to being in front of the camera. It might sound counterintuitive, but it’s a great way to ease any worries you might have, or break down any barriers before the day itself.
We are having a full wedding weekend with pre/post-wedding celebrations – would you shoot extra footage?
Hell yeah! We love a pre-wedding cocktail party or post-wedding pool party. Just let us know at the point of booking if this is something you are interested in and we can quote this for you.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Other than the people we have the privilege of photographing? Matt has a huge interest in street photography. As a people person and someone who very much lives in the “moment”, it’s these moments that inspire and really get the creative juices flowing. Jess will often have her nose in Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar and has a keen interest in fine art photography. Plus, her commercial background has a strong influence over the way she sees and photographs things.
We want to extend Hair & Makeup to other members of the bridal party; can Jess do them too?
The number of bridesmaids and/or Mums that Jess can factor in depends on the ceremony time and the approximate departure time of the bridal party. but the number she can do on her own is decided by the ceremony time and the approx. departure time of the Bridal party. However, she has a wonderful team of trained assistant stylists who can help cater to bigger bridal parties. Come and chat to us and we can figure out an estimate for you.
